Linked Archives: Winterthur

When the Reed & Barton factory was emptied in 2015, Freeman’s Auctions in Philadelphia was contracted to sell objects still in the company’s collection. A quantity of design drawings were also removed. Some sold at auction, the rest were donated by Freeman’s to the Winterthur Library. This collection contains approximately 9,000 design drawings, advertisements, orders, and photographs of flatware, holloware, trophies and bronze tablets, dated from 1831 through 1947.

The collection has a concentration of designs for plaques, memorials (many from just after World War One), church and school tablets, trophies, and inscriptions for mounting on trophy blanks.
